Directions to the trailhead

Drive EAST on Chilliwack Lake road until you pass the Foley Lake turnoff. Approximately 2 km further, on the north-side of the road is the Chilliwack Ford Mountain Forest Service Road. Follow this road for about 3.5 kms or so as it climbs steeply. This road has a few large cross-ditches, good ground clearance is required, or leave your vehicle and walk. Eventually you will reach a large yellow gate that may or may not be locked. To your immediate left is a rough and rutted "road" leading into the woods, take this rough road (4x4 required) until it ends - less than 1 km - in a sort of parking lot. The trail is in the righthand corner of the lot.

Detailed description of the trail

One could consider this as the mini-version of the Elk Mountain hike. The trailhead is harder to reach, but once you get there you have less to hike! The trail starts off fairly steep and stays that way until you finally break out of the trees, (albeit briefly) about 1/2 to 3/4 hours later - which is the first time you get any sort of view! The trail stays "in trees" for its majority, but the trail itself has some fine scenery including some nice large rocks, smaller vantage points, lots of trees with built-in saddles and some eerily-festooned pines!

From there, the trail levels somewhat and follows a ridge for less than 1 km before climbing sharply to the summit.
From the summit, you can continue along the ridge to Williams Peak or you can pick up the Williams Peak trail back down to the valley floor.
